about Charlie Domokos

 :

Charlie with Harmonica

Charlie's fast performances were as an "extra" in his dad's opera performances at the Midwest Opera Co. in St. Louis, Missouri USA.  His father, Dr. Nondor Domokos, a conductor from the Royal Opera House in Budapest, Hungary, also included Charlie on the Midwest Opera's Sunday night television show in presentations of Gounod's "Faust," and Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana."

In high school Charlie wrote pop songs for
Los Angeles based singers and groups such as the Soul Brothers and Jimmy Koss.  He also promoted pop groups while working at Irwin Zucker's record promotion company whose artist stable included Paul Revere & the Raiders and Bobbie Vee.

Charlie's songs have been featured in several independent features (e.g.: ODD BIRDS starring Michael Moriarty; 1987).

Charlie has performed over the last 5 years in
Los Angeles coffee houses, night clubs, and "open mikes" from folk clubs such as Mc Cabe's in Santa Monica to alternative rock clubs such as Mc Red's in North Hollywood and country taverns where horses sometimes outnumbered the human audience.

Charlie's first CD, "White Bread Man," is a compilation of Charlie's contemporary country, love songs, and rock'n roll ballads.  He is working on his new CD, "Down but Not Out."  He describes his blend of lyric oriented pop melodies as "Songs that have helped me get through...and hopefully, will help you get through, too."  Not coincidently, his 2003 show at Mc Red's was titled "Hard Times (and how to get through them.)"
